One to Ten : Day Zero - The set up, and the rules.

I hate MMOs.

I hate World of Warcraft.

So I think the best thing that I could do is to play it.

Right?

Not so good, lets give you a little background.

I play videogames. A lot. And often. I also have a little bit of an addictive personality. I am very narcissistic, I have to be the best at what I do.

Recently these personalities have mended in something known as Online Poker.

I realized that was a very expensive option. Especially when you lose.

I have friends who play WoW, I make fun of them often for it. I don't understand the game. Why anyone would want to play a game, just to cap at level 70 then...? Anybody?

They always say I have to play it, they say I would love it.

I think I wouldn't love it, but I know I would play it. A lot.
So lets tread some water.

I am going to play World of Warcraft for ten days.

I am going to write notes as I play it. I am going to post all my notes here, my thoughts, etc.

I would love it if people start to post, or even play with me. I might need help.

If I enjoy world of warcraft, I have told myself I will not play past ten days.

Ergh, this is hard already.

Regardless, on to the rules.

1) I will play world of warcraft at least once every day for 10 days.

2) I will not play past ten days.

3) I will not play outside the hours of 3 PM to 8 PM PST (For my own health)

4) I will post honest opinions on my WoW experience.

5) I will answer all questions posted.

6) I will make a post every day.

7) I need more rules.

Please post your rules here to contribute to my World of Warcraft experience.

My tentative date for starting is Saturday January 19th.

If this leads to the cause of my death, please put Saturday January 19th as my date I died on my headstone.

A few things to keep in mind. The first 10 levels of any character in WoW are mostly getting a feel for how the game is played. You learn how you will get and use skills, how to kill foes and gather treasure and a number of other basic things needful to play the game. The real game starts at level 10.
Many of the most fun and challenging elements of the game are not available to those doing the free trial.
The experience on a PvP realm is very different from a PvE realm. The experience on an older realm is very different from a newer realm.
Although the level cap is 70 there is a lot of content only available to those at that level, and there is another expansion in the works that will add more content and raise the level cap.
Every class in the game can solo to the level cap but if you do solo you will miss the social aspects of the game that can add tons to the enjoyment.
Saying you will try WoW but not play it when you are done is like saying you will try chocolate ice cream but having tried it you will never eat it again.
I see that you are an engineer from Tacoma. I am willing to bet you could afford to buy the full and expansion and really give it a fair shake which I would suggest you do.
I eagerly will watch this space to see how this turns out.
